What is the difference between the Academy and the Recreational Programs?
The Academy Program is designed as the next level for a player who is ready to advance from Recreational Soccer to a more progressive training and playing program. Centex Storm Academy is a center of training and excellence; where players are trained twice weekly by professional, licensed, full-time staff members. The players are grouped by ability level, with their progress monitored through club technical evaluations. Games played against other Club Academy team will be monitored by professional trainers.
Mission Statement
The Academy Program develops and educates young players in the game of soccer. The Centex Storm Academy will assist in the development of players who want to take their skills to the next level. The Academy will provide a safe, enjoyable training and learning environment for each player. The training will be based around the technical fundamentals of soccer. The curriculum will consist of age related activities that are based around the USSF National Youth License, USYSA and FA and UEFA programs. The Centex Academy follows a training curriculum that is innovative, challenging, and FUN! The unique structure of the Academy, along with the distinctive nature of the curriculum, is to develop each of the four components of a player: technical, tactical, psychological, and physical; in a progressive and age appropriate manner.
The Centex Academy is a challenging and rewarding experience for the players involved and serves as a bridge to Select Soccer. The Academy Staff are licensed coaches, who pride themselves on providing a FUN & SAFE learning environment that facilitates player growth and passion for the game.
Targets
To assist in developing the participation, quality, and enjoyment of soccer in our Academy we will:
- Provide players with quality training
- Provide players with a safe and professional training environment
- Educate and develop players, parents, and administration in National, State, and Club policies on youth soccer development
Concept
The concept of the Centex Academy Training Curriculum is to build learning blocks around the specific technical elements of soccer and the training needs and demands of the player. The training will be age specific, with the activities being tailored to the learning and technical abilities of the player.
The curriculum has been designed by Tom Blencoe and Peter den Harder, with the guidelines of the US Soccer Federation and US Soccer.

The Centex Academy program is a bridge to Select Soccer; as such the program demands that our most qualified, experienced coaches get more involved with the running the program for the youngest ages. The future is bright, but it's not guaranteed. As we all know, player development is a long journey. We must be patient in our approach, but we must also ensure that we start navigating the long journey in the right direction. The Centex Academy model provides that direction.
